Overview of Mediation

Mediation is an alternative means of settling disputes that can save you thousands of dollars and many hours spent in protected litigation.

In family law disputes, mediation is often preferred over litigation because it facilitates future communication between the parties which is necessary when the future of the children is at stake. Mediation of family disputes as a means of dispute settlement has been growing rapidly throughout the country. By settling your dispute through mediation and then filing your own legal documents as a pro se litigant using the legal forms in this website, you can save thousands of dollars in legal fees.

You can even mediate your dispute on-line. During the past year several  services have evolved which will enable you to mediate your dispute on-line using collaborative software over the Internet. See for example, The Center for On-Line Mediation.
